Volunteer community of IT specialists of Odesa IT2SchooL

Acquaintance with the world of IT can begin at an early age. Think it’s impossible? The volunteer community of IT specialists of Odesa IT2SchooL is ready to convince you!

Volunteers have united to share their knowledge and experience. Development of intellectual volunteering is one of the main ideas of the community. Mentors play a central role in the initiative:

  • teach children;
  • improve and even create training programs;
  • develop their own skills, becoming even more powerful specialists;
  • serve as an excellent example – role models – for the younger generation: as specialists, as socially responsible citizens, as volunteers who make society better with their own efforts.

During the 7 years of the community’s activity, 380+ groups have been trained, 300+ IT specialists have acted as volunteer mentors, and 2200+ students have successfully completed courses.

Since August 2021, IT2SchooL is part of the Odesa IT-Family and and keeps creating an opportunity for creativity and self-expression of schoolchildren through programming languages and other modern technologies.

We are proud that the activities of the volunteer community are quite versatile. This includes teaching school-age children with the support of Code Club Ukraine, as well as assistance in the development of Atom Space, a non-profit educational tech space for young people from 16 to 20 years old in Odesa.

Due to the fact that the project format is built with a focus on personal communication and the transfer of knowledge based on real life examples, children and adolescents learn to solve problems in real time, applying theory in practice.

Mentoring support helps them shape their life path, understand what they like and what steps need to be taken to achieve the goal. It is important that the mentor does not do the work for the student. He only tries to create favorable conditions in which children easily and naturally understand what actually suits them and make their own decisions.

The initiative team emphasizes that it is trying to create an ecosystem in which there is always a place for volunteer mentors with different approaches.

The main desire, and a convenient format can always be found. Mentors include students, teachers, IT specialists, as well as many who combine study, work, and mentoring. The power is precisely in these people, united by one idea!

If you would like to become part of the community and join as a mentor-volunteer, you can always contact the organizers!
